Lab

I am recruiting students to join the RES Lab in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) at Arizona State University.

Who I am looking for

You should be strong in at least one of these, and curious about the other:

  • Systems building. You can hack on Kubernetes, distributed systems, LLM serving, or testing infrastructure, and you enjoy making complicated things actually work.
  • ML / RL. You know your way around LLMs, agents, reinforcement learning, or robotics, and you want your agents to touch real systems instead of toy environments.

You do not need everything on day one. What I care about most is that you like building things (strong motivation) and you finish what you start.

Prospective Ph.D. students

Ph.D. positions are fully funded.

  1. Apply to the ASU Ph.D. program, and list me as a faculty of interest in your application.
  2. Also email me at yinfang AT asu DOT edu with the subject line [Prospective Ph.D.] Your Name. Include your CV, transcript, and a short paragraph about which of my papers or projects you would want to build on and why. A specific paragraph beats a long generic one. I read every email, but I can only meaningfully reply to ones that show you know what my group does.

ASU M.S. and undergraduate students

I am happy to work with ASU M.S. and undergraduate students on research projects and theses. Email me with your CV and what you want to work on.

Research collaborations

I am open to research collaborations with students and researchers outside ASU, on-site or remote. Email me with your CV and the topic you have in mind.
